Anyone visiting the Belgian capital, Brussels, should plan a visit to the well-known “Delirium Café”. In Greece, when listening to the word Café, we form the view of a cafeteria with good coffee, beverages and some beers. This is not applying here!
Delirium Café is located in the city centre very close to Gand Place in French (or Grote Markt in Dutch) on a side street, the Impasse de la Fidélité or Getrouwheidsgang. For those following Guinness Records, they will know that the company holds the record with the most beers in the world. 2.004 labels as many as the year it registered the first place. The management claims that at certain times of the year they can reach at 2.500 labels! The distinctive title and logo are the same as the well-known Belgian product of Delirium Tremens from Brouwerij Huyghe in Melle. In tribute to the best beer in the world, the name was given and the doors are pink like the elephant. At Delirium Café you can find Dutch Gins and Jenevers along with some Whiskeys. While it has some snacks -cheeses, salamis and sausages- I suggest it more for beers. You will find famous and completely unknown brews, some of which are truly gourmet treasures.
Wooden chairs and covered walls. Everywhere there are barrels, glasses of beer, discs with beer logos and breweries and generally, any accessories and souvenirs can refer to a beer of our time and of the past. Many visitors from all over the world. Yes, it also has Belgians, but honestly now, if you are a Belgian you would have the “Delirium Café” as your favorite hanging out place, being among the tourists, while you have so many options? I would probably not. Visit it a unique experience. I suggest it at Christmas so that you can experience the atmosphere at Grand Place. The museum at the Belgian Brewers House also deserves a visit.
